Lecturer
The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for two non-tenure track faculty positions in the Lecturer track (rank commensurate with level of experience and title contingent on degree of the candidate). We are especially interested in candidates with expertise and strong teaching interests in analytics/machine learning; data science/statistics; optimization; applied probability/ simulation; and industrial engineering applications.
The lecturer will be responsible for teaching and curriculum support in the area of industrial engineering. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Teaching 3 class sections in each of the fall and spring semesters with an academic year (9-month) appointment, and two additional sections in the summer semester with a fiscal year (12-month) appointment. These may include classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates are expected to adopt innovative educational practices as they develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Assist with development and management of the school's curriculum.
- Contribute to internal and external service activities.

GTSI (Shenzhen, China) Positions

The Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) program (www.analytics.gatech.edu) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications for tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in Statistics, Operations Research (OR), or related areas. These are full-time positions with the Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute (GTSI) in Shenzhen, China. These positions will reside in China.
GTSI is a Joint Institute between Georgia Tech and Tianjin University (TJU) and is located in Shenzhen, the so-called "Silicon Valley of China". GTSI has received approval from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and the Chinese Ministry of Education to offer Georgia Tech's existing Master's degree programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Analytics, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, and Industrial Design, as well as the PhD degree in ECE. Georgia Tech is fully responsible for Georgia Tech academic programming at GTSI.
Georgia Tech is one of only six institutions in the United States that is ranked in the top-10 in all three of the constituent areas of analytics (computing, statistics/OR, and business analytics). Over the past several years, Georgia Tech has consistently been ranked between #4 and #8 in Statistics and Operational Research by the QS World University Rankings and by U.S. News and World Report as #8 or #9 in Computer Science #7 in the subfield of Artificial Intelligence, #4 in Business-Quantitative Analysis, and #3 in Business Analytics.
Successful GTSI faculty candidates will be expected to teach courses from Georgia Tech's curriculum in MSA, mentor students, engage in field-related professional achievement and activity, and perform service to GTSI and the analytics profession.
Candidates can apply to either of the following two tracks which differ in teaching load and research expectations.
- Teaching track (not currently recruiting): Teaching and service constitute the criteria for advancement for GTSI faculty on the teaching track. Although not a job requirement, teaching faculty are welcome to engage in research as well and supervise student projects. Teaching experience (demonstrated by college level teaching experience, TA experience, or teaching training programs), and some demonstrated record of professional achievement and activity are desired.
- Teaching & research track: Teaching, research, funding and service constitute the criteria for advancement for GTSI faculty on the teaching & research track. Candidates shall have either demonstrated or shown a clear potential for creative and independent research that would lead to a strong, extramurally funded research program and recognition in the professional field.
Employment, compensation and benefits of these faculty members will be through GTSI. They will be interviewed by the relevant faculty body at Georgia Tech. Successful candidates will be granted Georgia Tech adjunct faculty status and are expected to teach the Georgia Tech curriculum in English at GTSI. Both the faculty and the student bodies at GTSI are expected to be diverse and international. Chinese language skills are not a requirement for employment with GTSI.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, academic year (9-month) basis. Summer teaching opportunities may be available with additional summer salary of up to 1/3 of academic year salary.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in statistics, operations research, or a closely related field, from a top graduate program taught in the English language, to be conferred no later than June 30 2023.
POSITION AVAILABLE: August 1, 2023, with academic year beginning in August 2023.

We are seeking to hire up to three post-doctoral fellows in the Net Zero Freight program at the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
This program addresses the grand challenge of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions from freight systems by simultaneously addressing fuels, vehicles, and the design of effective material transportation and logistics systems. It combines teaching and research with industrial, government, and civil society engagement to identify and amplify priority improvement opportunities.
We seek applicants for two complementary types of positions on a one-year renewable basis. The first will focus on design of freight systems based on the Physical Internet and hyperconnected logistics and transportation. The successful candidate will have expertise in freight, logistics and/or transportation systems design, modeling, analysis, and/or governance. The second will focus on transition to electric and non-carbon fuels. The successful candidate will have expertise in a combination of life cycle assessment, energy systems modeling, policy and/or techno-economic analysis.
Preferably, applicants have: (1) Ph.D. in industrial engineering, supply chain engineering, freight systems, logistics, industrial ecology, macro-energy systems, sustainable energy systems, public policy, energy resources, chemical, civil, or electrical engineering, or related fields; (2) Strong quantitative and computational competences; (3) Exceptional communication skills; (4) Interest and experience in sustainability and emissions reduction.
