Project Description

High Level Objective: Develop and build a learning enabled supply chain model to serve as a tool for new product supply chain design. The tool will recommend and simulate supply chain design and predict performance for a new product supply chain against relevant key performance indicators. This tool will build upon an existing IE capstone project that will develop the initial digital twin of the chosen seating product supply chain that is intended to provide visibility and transparency (health) to the current upstream supply chain.

Complication: Supply chain management is based on knowledge and understanding of the supply chain tiers (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 …), and with limited visibility to these upstream supply chains management in a data driven method is limited at best. These supply chains at Tier 1 are well documented but visibility of performance is extremely limited. Tier 2 & Tier 3 supplier visibility and performance is nearly non-existent.

How would a digital twin of our supply chains network enable Steelcase to leverage a learning system using Ai+ML to predict performance and simulate alternate strategies?

How would an Ai+ML model predict performance when a new supplier is required or introduced into a supply chain?

Objective: This project will be an extension of a current IE capstone project to extend the work and progress that is accomplished by this team. The current team will be developing a model that represents our current supply chain for this seating category. This model will be the initial digital twin that will enable early simulation and supply chain health. The objective for this project will be to further mature the digital twin model and extend the capability into supply chain design of new products where an existing supply chain does not exist.
