About

Harshal Kaushik is a Research Faculty at the NSF AI Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT) and the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University, where his doctoral work focused on large-scale optimization, variational inequality constraints, distributed algorithms, and game-theoretic decision systems.

Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Harshal held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Texas at Dallas and Virginia Tech, and worked as an OR Data Scientist at Bayer. His research integrates optimization, stochastic modeling, machine learning, and network science to address large-scale decision problems in supply chains, logistics, transportation, and energy.

Research

Harshal’s research focuses on scalable optimization and learning-based decision-making for complex socio-technical systems. He develops computational frameworks that combine mathematical optimization, stochastic modeling, graph-based methods, and machine learning to support reliable and efficient decisions under uncertainty. At AI4OPT, Harshal leads the supply chain and logistics thrust.
