About

Christos Alexopoulos is the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies, Kiplinger Faculty Fellow, and Professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Research

Dr. Alexopoulos' research interests center on applied probability, simulation analysis methodology, statistics, and optimization under uncertainty. His recent work involves

  • the design and implementation of efficient sequential methods for estimating measures of risk and error in simulation experiments and
  • optimization of production and inventory systems using machine learning methods.

Teaching

Dr. Alexopoulos has been a core contributor to simulation education in ISyE since 1988. In 1999 he co-founded, with Richard Fujimoto and others, the cross-disciplinary Modeling & Simulation Research & Education Center, which served as a springboard for the creation of the School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) with 12 home units across the Institute. Dr. Alexopoulos has served as ISyE's unit coordinator for the graduate programs in CSE since their inception. In addition to instruction, he has co-developed instructional games as well as the Sequest Software for estimating measures of statistical risk and error.

Awards and Honors
