Originally from Astana, Kazakhstan, Bayzhan Mukatay is a PhD student in Operations Research at Georgia Tech. 
After graduating from Rice University in 2025, he spent a year between San Francisco and New York City, working at startups on fleet optimization and recommendation systems, and on organ allocation at NYU Langone’s Center for Surgical and Transplant Applied Research (CSTAR).
