About

Akane Fujimoto is a research faculty member in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she conducts and leads research and teaches and mentors undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Fujimoto is also a research affiliate at the Center for Health and Humanitarian Systems (CHHS), an institute-level interdisciplinary research center dedicated to improving the human condition and promoting wellness.

Research

Dr. Fujimoto research spans inventory management, healthcare operations, resource allocation, and infectious and non-infectious disease modeling. Through this work, she focuses on facilitating data-driven decision-making and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of health and humanitarian systems. Her work bridges data analytics, statistical modeling, simulation, and operations research with real-world applications to address pressing challenges in healthcare and public health.

She collaborates with healthcare systems and public agencies to translate complex data into actionable insights. Recent collaborators include Emory Healthcare, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Georgia Department of Public Health. 

Teaching

Dr. Fujimoto serves as a faculty advisor for Senior Design teams (ISyE 4106), working primarily with teams that partner with healthcare, public health, and non‑profit organizations. She also co‑teaches Public Health Systems (ISyE 4510), offered in the fall semester.
