About

Katundu Imasiku received his B.Eng. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from Copperbelt University, MBA from Business School Netherlands, and Ph.D. in Renewable Energy from the University of Rwanda. Before joining Georgia Tech, he worked in power and infrastructure engineering and later served as Renewable Energy Expert and Team Lead for Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen at SASSCAL, where he contributed to H₂Atlas-Africa and regional clean-energy planning across Southern Africa. He joined Georgia Tech ISyE in 2024 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Dr. Imasiku’s scholarly service includes editorial roles with Frontiers in Sustainable Energy Policy and Frontiers in Environmental Science, and he currently serves as an Academic/Volume Editor with IntechOpen. He is affiliated with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

Research

Dr. Imasiku’s research focuses on decision analytics for sustainable energy, freight, and industrial decarbonization systems. His current work examines freight and alternative-fuel infrastructure, hydrogen deployment, industrial energy efficiency and low-carbon materials, and the economic and policy conditions that influence clean-energy investment and implementation. His research integrates techno-economic analysis, life-cycle assessment, energy and emissions modeling, infrastructure analysis, and policy evaluation.

Teaching

Dr. Imasiku teaches ISYE 3025 – Engineering Economy, focusing on applying engineering-economic methods to real-world investment and technology decisions. He also serves as an Instructor in VIP-2601-VYT– Accelerating Sustainable Development in Africa, where he guides multidisciplinary undergraduate and graduate students through research and sustainability projects. He additionally mentors undergraduate and graduate researchers in Georgia Tech’s Net Zero Freight Program.
