King of Pops

Client Profile

King of Pops is a food and beverage company based in Atlanta, Georgia, best known for its handcrafted popsicles made with fresh, natural, and often locally sourced ingredients. Founded in 2010 by brothers Nick and Steven Carse, the company started as a single pushcart outside of an Atlanta bar and has grown into a well-loved regional brand across the Southeast.

Project Description

At King of Pops, we make handmade popsicles in a small production space with a limited budget, which creates real challenges as we try to scale. Our batch blending, freezing, and packaging processes are highly manual, space-constrained, and becoming bottlenecks as demand grows.

We think this could be a great fit for a Senior Design team because:

-There’s strong opportunity for process mapping and bottleneck analysis.

-We’re eager to explore low-cost automation options (particularly for packaging and freezing).

-A facility layout optimization could help maximize throughput without expanding our footprint.

-We’d benefit from a phased improvement roadmap balancing budget, labor, and scalability.

The ultimate goal would be data-driven recommendations and simulations that help us decide what investments make the most sense and when.
