Interface
Client Profile
Interface is a global flooring manufacturer and sustainability leader with manufacturing operations in six locations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The company has established ambitious climate goals, including science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with the latest Science Based Targets initiative requirements and a commitment to become Carbon Negative by 2040.The client team includes global sustainability, operations, engineering, facilities, finance, and site leadership teams that need a practical roadmap for equipment replacement, onsite generation, storage, electrification, and emerging technologies across a diverse manufacturing footprint.
Project Description
Interface is seeking a semester-length assessment of the most relevant onsite energy technology options for a small set of priority manufacturing sites. The project should focus on a limited set of technologies, such as onsite solar, battery storage, electrification of key equipment, renewable thermal energy, or emerging technologies that may be relevant within the next 5 years.
The project should help Interface:
• Screen practical onsite energy technology options for selected sites.
• Compare options using simple criteria such as emissions impact, cost, feasibility, timing, and operational fit.
• Recommend a short list of next-step opportunities for deeper evaluation by Interface.
The final deliverable should be a concise roadmap and decision matrix that helps Interface identify which technologies warrant further study.
