Georgia Power

Client Profile

Georgia Power provides power to 2.7 million customers and is the largest electric provider in Georgia. “It as our mission to elevate our communities as well as protecting the environment and growing a Georgia that works for all Georgians - today and for generations to come.”

Project Description

Develop a program/application that would take inputs of number of existing facilities, potential easements, right of way ownership(city/county/state), type of area(rural/urban), and proposed load (size of conductor required) to calculate costs of underground or overhead construction both on and off road right of way. This would include initial capital and future maintenance costs.

The company’s preferred method of service is overhead on private property, but the goal of the project would be to automate the estimating process for each alternative to allow for risk/reward discussions for multiple design types for each project.

The user interface would ideally use a GIS map with GPC facilities to layout a path like a Google Earth Route along the project’s route and return a cost to the user.
