Georgia Tech’s College of Lifetime Learning (CLL) expands access to the Institute’s knowledge and expertise, helping individuals and organizations respond to changing workforce and societal needs. The College connects academic, professional, and lifelong learning through collaboration with Georgia Tech’s schools, colleges, and external partners.As a newly established College integrating units with distinct histories, capabilities, and operating practices, CLL is building a coordinated organization designed to accelerate innovation and deliver learning at scale. This integration creates an opportunity to align processes, strengthen collaboration, and use shared resources more effectively while maintaining the quality and rigor associated with Georgia Tech.
Project Description
Georgia Tech’s College of Lifetime Learning (CLL) seeks to map, analyze, and improve operational processes as it integrates multiple units into a new College with a mission to accelerate and scale learning opportunities.The project will examine how work moves across units, identify bottlenecks and duplicated activities, and recommend improvements to coordination, resource allocation, and decision-making. It will begin with a high-level process inventory, followed by detailed analysis and redesign of two or three priority workflows selected with College leadership. Potential areas include new program intake and approval, content development, program launch, and coordination of shared resources.
The student team will establish performance baselines, develop alternative process designs, and use industrial and systems engineering methods to evaluate their effectiveness under current and increased demand. Recommendations should address turnaround time, capacity, service quality, and operational costs.
Expected deliverables include current- and future-state process maps, a quantitative model or decision-support tool, a cost-benefit analysis, and a prioritized implementation roadmap. The goal is to help CLL operate as an integrated College and expand its impact through more efficient and scalable processes.
