Coca-Cola

Client Profile

The Coca-Cola Company, with approximately 200 brands sold across more than 200 countries and territories, serves 2.2 billion drinks per day. We own 30 billion-dollar brands across several beverage categories worldwide.

We Are Guided by Our Purpose: Refresh the World. Make a Difference.

Our vision for growth has three connected pillars:

1) Loved Brands. We craft meaningful brands and a choice of drinks that people love and enjoy and that refresh them in body and spirit.

2) Done Sustainably. We grow our business in ways that achieve positive change in the world and build a more sustainable future for our planet.

3) For a Better Shared Future. We invest to improve people’s lives, from our employees to all those who touch our business system, to our investors, to the communities we call home.

Project Description

Deployment Planning Optimization: Raw material supply, production attainment, and/or quality issues periodically limit our ability to fully satisfy customer demand. In these instances, we allocate inventory to customers and create a inventory deployment plan to try to minimize supply chain costs. This process is too manual and can lead to excess transportation, handling, and storage costs. We need a automated solution that can guide inventory deployment in order to dynamically optimize customer service level and supply chain costs.

Questions:

1. How can inventory deployment planning be optimized when supply is constrained relative to demand?

2. What algorithms or heuristics can be used to plan truckloads to minimize cost or maximize revenue/customer service?

3. How can this capability be embedded within existing Anaplan tools?

Desired Outcomes:

1. A conceptual design and prototype of a deployment planning feature set.

2. Optimization models or heuristics (e.g., linear programming, greedy algorithms) for constrained deployment planning.

3. A proof-of-concept or mock-up within Anaplan, showing how the feature could be implemented and used.
