Client Profile

The Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC) is located in Robins Air Force Base, GA. WR-ALC provides depot level maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of Air Force equipment and weapons systems, including the C-5 Galaxy, C-130 Hercules, F-15 Strike Eagle several Special Operations Forces aircraft and the Predator and Reaper. It also provides space for contract C-17 Globemaster III repairs, manufacturing facilities and laboratories in the restoration of Air Force equipment and aircraft to serviceable condition.

Project Description

One of our strategic goals is to expand our digital engineering. We plan on doing this by creating simulations of processes that touch parts that belong to aircraft. Robins AFB utilizes AnyLogic software, a discrete event modeling and analysis tool.
One of our laboratories has identified a candidate process to be simulated.
Heat treatment is a critical, safety-of-flight process were minor deviations in furnace temperature, soak time, or quench rates can severely compromise material integrity. To mitigate this risk, the Robins laboratory acts as the final quality gate by performing tensile testing on representative coupons processed alongside production hardware. This testing quantitatively verifies and validates that the shop's thermal cycles have successfully altered the material's microstructure to meet strict military and aerospace mechanical specifications—ensuring component flight-worthiness without destroying actual production parts.
