Ronald McDonald House Atlanta
Client Profile
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Atlanta is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. Our Houses ease the strain on guests by providing a bedroom that sleeps four, a private bath, use of a full kitchen and stocked pantry, dining areas, laundry facilities, transportation to and from the hospital, family rooms, and play spaces. Daily, freshly cooked meals, activities, support resources, and a community of caring staff, volunteers, and other families provide holistic support.
Last year, our House Program served 1,491 unique families, hosted 3,524 stays, and provided 23,007 nights of rest.
With the opening of the new Arthur M. Blank hospital, we recently opened our Briarcliff House, with 110- rooms, which has increased our capacity to serve by 76%.
Project Description
With our new House, Ronald McDonald House Atlanta can serve more families than ever before. This growth creates both an opportunity and a challenge: ensuring that critical resources -especially food and essential household items -are managed efficiently and sustainably. In our Houses we provide:
• A fully stocked pantry with grab-and-go items for families
• Daily meals prepared by our House Chef
• Essential supplies such as linens, toiletries, and household goods
We rely heavily on in-kind donations, supplemented by purchased goods when necessary. Currently, our inventory management approach is largely manual and reactive, based on visual assessments and weekly “most-needed” lists. While functional, this approach can lead to inefficiencies such as overstocking of low-need items, understocking of critical goods, and increased risk of food spoilage.
With significantly expanded storage capacity in our new facility, we now have the physical infrastructure, but not yet the systems, to manage inventory strategically.
We are seeking assistance to design and implement an inventory management system that improves efficiency, reduces waste, and enhances our ability to serve families.
Key focus areas include:
• Storage Layout & Facility Design
• Inventory Optimization & Forecasting
• Process Improvement
• Data Collection & Reporting Systems
