Toyya Pujol Mitchell

Toyya Pujol is a PhD candidate in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in statistics.  She has two MS degrees, one in Statistics from Georgia Institute of Technology and one in Operations Research from Northeastern University. Her BS is in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  During her PhD, she has also obtained additional training from Harvard Medical School’s Healthcare Policy Department.   

As part of the Health Analytics Lab, her research focuses on utilizing health insurance claims data to find insights in health outcomes and healthcare spending, specifically in women’s health.  She also focuses on health disparities by urbanicity and race.  Toyya has completed research in genomics and is currently working on a project with chronic opioid users.  Her interests are in casual inference, network analysis and machine learning with applications to healthcare and defense.  She also has extensive experience in cost analysis for the US Air Force.     

Toyya has won numerous awards, including the PhD Sloan Foundation Fellowship and a National Institute of Health Training Grant.
