David Leigh Donoho is a professor of statistics at Stanford University. His most well-known work, titled simply “Compressed Sensing”, is reflected in a new generation of MRI scanners now reaching the market. Donoho has been elected a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and a foreign associated of the French Academy of Sciences. He has won many national and international prizes, most recently the Gauss Prize at the 2018 International Congress of Mathematicians.
