All ISyE undergraduate seniors culminate their undergraduate educational experience with a capstone course called Senior Design. In Senior Design, you are presented with an opportunity to work with a team of undergraduate students to provide your organization with a variety of innovative and creative solutions to a problem. These student teams work as outside consultants satisfying their interest in a real-world design experience. They work on well-defined, specific design activities. Each team picks its project from the submitted projects that comply with the course objectives; if multiple teams pick your project, you can choose among them. For maximum consideration by students, projects for spring semester (January through early May) should be submitted by September, and projects for fall semester (mid-August through mid-December) should be submitted by May.
The World Food Program (WFP), is the largest humanitarian organization fighting world hunger, has a decentralized decision making process across its supply chain. In order to centralize commodity, sourcing, and routing decisions, the team created a customizable optimization tool, based on a multi-period multi-commodity minimum cost network flow model. The tool outputs the most cost-effective solution given optional constraints over a planning horizon.
