Marc Goetschalckx is an associate professor in ISyE. He received a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering at Georgia Tech in 1983 and joined the faculty that same year. Dr. Goetschalckx is the developer of Spiral, an interactive computer-aided layout program, and contributed to FactoryOPT of Engineering Animation, Inc. He also directed the development of CIMPEL (Computer Integrated Modeling and Planning Environment for Logistics), a graphical supply chain design program that has been used by several industrial organizations.
Dr. Goetschalckx is past-president of the Facilities Design Division of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, a member of the Editorial Board of IIE Transactions, and was chair of the academic council of CICMHE (Collect Industry Council for Material Handling Education). He frequently publishes papers, speaks at continuing education short courses, develops design and analysis software, and consults in the areas of supply chain and material flow systems design. His logistics competencies and current interests are in supply chain design and analysis, configuration of global logistics systems, material flow systems, manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution facilities design.
