Student Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards

Students Awards 2011 - 2012

The H. Milton Stewart School gives a number of awards and scholarships to students each year based on recommendations and the student’s current resume. The Award recipients are selected in early March, and most of the awards are for past performance over the previous year. Please refer to this page for the most current listing of awards and scholarships available.

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Leadership Award

The Leadership Award is given to an outstanding officer in the Student Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the President of Alpha Pi Mu, IE’s Honor Society. Recipients receive an engraved plaque listing their name and the honor.

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Senior Service Award

The Senior Service Award is given to a senior who has provided exceptional service to the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The recipient is presented with an engraved plaque.

Alpha Pi Mu Academic Excellence Award

The Alpha Pi Mu Academic Excellence Award is given to a senior with the best academic achievement, which is measured by GPA, difficulty in the curriculum, research, and other scholarly accomplishment. The recipient will receive a trophy and an engraved entry on the Alpha Pi Mu Academic Excellence Award board outside of the ISyE academic office.

Kurt Salmon Associates Scholarship in Industrial and Systems Engineering

This Scholarship of $850 is awarded by Kurt Salmon Associates to each selected senior in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.  The Scholarship is based on academic merit and contribution in the School. 

Jack Webb Scholarships

The Jack Webb Scholarship is given to rising Juniors or Seniors in ISyE who have U.S. citizenship and hold a GPA of 3.3 or higher. The recipient will have strong leadership skills, participated in extracurricular and community activities, and demonstrated financial need. Each year, between five and seven Jack Webb Scholarships are given.

The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Scholarship

The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Scholarship is given for academic performance and contribution to the Supply Chain Engineering field. The awardees are required to be a student member of CSCMP, and participate in the CSCMP’s annual Collegiate Seminar and Career Fair.

The Frantz Family Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship: 1 @ $1,000

The Frantz Family Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship was established in 2006 to encourage IE students to pursue the world of creating wealth, entrepreneurship, and financial freedom for themselves.  The student chosen for this scholarship must have clear business objectives and goals along with the demonstrated determination to pursue and reach those goals.

Ligon Fund for Student Travel Award

Ligon Fund for Student Travel Award is given to assist ISyE students’ travel to conferences or other worthy activities that will benefit ISyE and the student. The award can be used to cover transportation and accommodations reimbursable for up to $1,000 for each recipient. Ligon Award is for the travel in the following academic year.

2009 - 2010

Jack C. Webb Scholarship - Anish Bhatt, Jeff Chau, David Chen, Justin Chmielewski, Carly Chupp, Eugene Dunwody, Jill McVitty, Nikita Patel, Deborah Peak, Sanjana Rao, Gabriel St. James, and Kristen Vita

The Webb Scholarship is given to rising Juniors or Seniors in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The cash award of $1000 each is based on scholarship, leadership, extracurricular and community activities. The award is presented by Dr. Chen Zhou, Associate Chair, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

A scholarship is given by Kurt Salmon Associates to seniors in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The cash award of $1000 each is made on the basis of academic merit and contribution in the School. Mr. Tom White, Manager, Kurt Salmon Associates, will make the presentation.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Undergraduate Award in Health Systems - Matthew Docherty and Amanda Widmaier

This scholarship is given to a junior or senior in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who has shown interest in working in the Health Systems field. The cash award of $425 each is given to a student who displays excellent scholarship as well as having worked or done research in Health Systems. Patti Parker, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering will present the award.

Silent Hoist/Crane Company Material Handling Scholarship - Nicholas Alexander, Emily Jester, Alexander Johnston, Saloni Mehra, Nikita Patel and Crystal Serrano

The Silent Hoist Scholarship is awarded to students in the Steward School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who have excelled in the area of Materials Handling. The cash award of $2000 will be shared by this senior design team. The award will be presented by Valarie DuRant-Modeste, Advisor, Steward School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Senior Service Award - Christine Dunphy

This award is given to a senior who has provided great service to the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The gift, an engraved plaque, is presented by Patti Parker, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Leadership Award - Nikita Patel and Najma Shaikh

This scholarship was established in 2006 to an indiustrial engineering student who is pursuing the world of creating wealth, small business and financial freedom for themselves. The student must have clear business objectives and goals along with the demonstrated determination to pursue and reach those goals. The cash award of $1000 will be presented by Ms. Maria Frantz, IE 2001.

2008 - 2009

A scholarship is given to a minority student from Midwest in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The cash award of $1000 is based on scholarship and leadership. Patti Parker, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, will present the award.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Undergraduate Award in Health Systems - Shayna Brownstein

This scholarship is given to a junior or senior in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who has shown interest in working in the Health Systems field. The cash award of $1000 is given to a student who displays excellent scholarship as well as having worked or done research in Health Systems. Valarie DuRant-Modeste, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering will present the award.

Silent Hoist/Crane Company Material Handling Scholarship - Natasha Jain and Matthew Knepper

The Silent Hoist Scholarship is awarded to students in the Steward School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who have excelled in the area of Materials Handling. The cash award of $500 each will be presented by Patti Parker, Advisor, Steward School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Delta Nu Alpha Supply Chain Logistics Scholarship - Karinna Kujawa

A scholarship is awarded to a student in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who has excelled in the area of Logistics. The cash prize of $500 is based on academic merit. Dr. Chen Zhou, Associate Chair, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, will present the award.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Senior Service Award - Amanda Ondras

This award is given to a senior who has provided great service to the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The gift, an engraved plaque, is presented by Patti Parker, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Leadership Award - Michael Fischer and Najma Shaikh

Paul Eaton Award - Payam Eslami

This award is given to a student who has shown scholarship and contribution to the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The gift is given by Mrs. Eaton in memory of her husband who was a Professor Emeritus in ISyE from 1952-1971. The award, an engraved plaque, is presented by Dr. Chen Zhou, Associate Chair, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Dow Chemical Scholarship - Chen Liu

The Dow Chemical Scholarship is awarded to a senior in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The cash award of $500 is made on the basis of academic merit and contribution to the School. Dr. Chen Zhou, Associate Chair, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, will make the presentation.

The Lofgren Scholarship is given to Seniors in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The cash award of $1200 each is given in recognition of scholarship and leadership in campus student organizations. The award is presented by Patti Parker, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Armstrong Scholarship - Santiago Aviles

This scholarship is given to a junior or senior in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who has shown excellence in scholarship as well as extracurricular and leadership activities. The cash award of $1500 is presented by Valarie DuRant-Modeste, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Minorities/Women Scholarship - Alendria Prioleau

A scholarship is given to a minority/woman student in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. The cash award of $1250 is based on scholarship and leadership. Valarie DuRant-Modeste, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, will present the award.

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering Undergraduate Award in Health Systems - Najma Shaikh

This scholarship is given to a junior or senior in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering who has shown interest in working in the Health Systems field. The cash award of $1800 is given to a student who displays excellent scholarship as well as having worked or done research in Health Systems. Valarie DuRant-Modeste, Advisor, Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering will present the award.

The Frantz Family Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship - Kyle Verzello

The Frantz Family Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship is awarded to an Industrial Engineering student who is pursuing the world of creating wealth, small business and financial freedom for themselves while working on their BSIE degree. The recipient must have clear business objectives and goals along with the demonstrated determination to pursue and reach those goals. The scholarship, a cash award of $1000, a book and a plaque, is presented by Maria Frantz, BSIE 2001.
