The Stewart School offers great breadth and depth in terms of faculty interest areas and concentrations which, in turn, produces substantial flexibility for graduate students in terms of course offerings and importantly, research opportunities that support their respective degree choices. This is captured by the links below.

The Human-Integrated Systems (HIS) group in ISyE supports numerous on-going research projects sponsored by NSF, NASA, and industry. Prominent activities include fundamental studies focusing on individuals (e.g. human interaction with computers and automation) and on organizations (e.g. determining the information systems required to improve the performance of large-scale socio-technical systems). These fundamentals provide the foundation for projects applying the principles of cognitive science, computer science, and cognitive engineering to a variety of domains including health systems, educational technology, information systems, and safety-critical systems such as air traffic control. Interdisciplinary work is prevalent through interactions with other research groups within ISyE, through joint projects with other branches of engineering, and through involvement with cross-cutting programs such as the cognitive science group's activities and graduate certificates, and the modeling and simulation research and education center.
Relevant program and degree requirements associated specifically with HIS activities and concentrations can be found at the following links: Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (second track), Master of Science, and Human-Integrated Systems.
