About Our Graduates

Traditionally, approximately 40% of our undergraduates pursue and accept positions in consulting environments; including large and well-known national and international firms as well as smaller more regional companies. Typically, 10-15% will seek some form of post-graduate activity. A large number of these students continue in IE/OR, but many will enter MBA programs, law school, and even medical school.

At last count, ISyE claims nearly 11000 alumni throughout the world and academe. Amazingly (and true), nearly one in ten ISyE graduates have risen to the top positions of their respective organizations, whether as CEO, president, CFO, or even university president.

Our Ph.D. graduates select academic and non-academic positions in essentially equal proportions. Those entering universities have not only taken positions at large research institutions, but also in mathematics departments at smaller liberal arts colleges and universities. Recent graduates can be found on faculties at Berkeley, Wisconsin, UNC-Chapel Hill, Michigan, Northwestern, Purdue, Lehigh, Minnesota, Southern California, Illinois, and Penn State.
